The SMSL D100 is a compact desktop DAC and headphone amplifier with an ESS ES9081 DAC, balanced headphone output, MQA support, PCM 768kHz playback and DSD512 compatibility.
SMSL D100 Desktop DAC & Headphone Amplifier
The SMSL D100 is designed to streamline a desktop listening setup by combining a high-performance DAC converter and headphone amplifier in one compact unit. Instead of using a separate DAC and amp stack, the D100 brings digital decoding, headphone drive and RCA line output into a single CNC aluminium chassis.
At the heart of the D100 is a professional-grade ESS ES9081 DAC using 8-channel parallel summing. This architecture helps the unit achieve a 127 dB dynamic range, while support for full MQA, PCM up to 768kHz and DSD512 makes it suitable for high-resolution desktop audio playback.
The true balanced amplifier circuit delivers up to 400 mW of clean headphone output through both 6.35 mm and 4.4 mm jacks. Automatic headphone matching supports headphones up to 600Ω, making the D100 practical for a wide range of desktop listening setups.
For flexible integration, the D100 includes dedicated RCA line outputs and independent dual USB-C ports. This dual-USB design helps isolate PC power noise and reduces phone battery drain, while the 1.66-inch glass screen gives the unit a modern, clear interface for everyday use.
