REDCATT 5FR 5.0" Full-Range Woofer 8 Ohm
The REDCATT 5FR is designed as a wide-range full-range woofer for compact systems where a balanced low-mid response and usable upper-frequency extension are required. Its optimized mid-frequency behavior helps simplify passive crossover or DSP work, reducing the need for large equalization corrections in suitable designs.
A custom paper pulp cone and NBR rubber surround give the driver controlled behavior across its operating range. REDCATT developed these moving parts to address major break-up modes, while the driver also offers improved off-axis frequency response for more consistent coverage in compact speakers, columns and multi-way systems.
The motor system is built around a large high-grade ferrite magnet with a 25.4 mm copper voice coil on a Kapton former. Coated steel parts help the driver cope with demanding environments, making it suitable for applications such as outdoor or weather-resistant systems, PA column midrange use and small two-way monitors.
For installation, the 5FR uses a steel basket with front and rear gaskets, allowing front or rear mounting. It has a 113.50 mm baffle cutout, 61.00 mm mounting depth, four mounting holes and a net weight of 0.99 kg. Free-air or open-back baffle use is recommended for column speaker bays and installed sound systems, while sealed alignments of 7.3 liters or 11 liters and vented alignments of 5 to 10 liters can also be used depending on the desired balance of size, roll-off and bass output in woofer applications.
