REDCATT 5FHW 5.0" Subwoofer 4 Ohm
The REDCATT 5FHW is built for compact low-frequency performance in home hi-fi systems and weather-resistant speaker designs. As a small subwoofer, it is suitable for applications where space is limited but controlled bass output is still required.
Its polypropylene cone and dust cap are combined with an NBR surround, Nomex spider and ferrite magnetic circuit. The cone, dust cap and surround materials include UV stabilizers, while REDCATT’s adhesive selection and dispensing process contribute to a waterproof construction for outdoor speaker use.
Performance specifications include 4 ohm rated impedance, 86.39 dB sensitivity and a 50 Hz resonant frequency. The driver handles 30 W AES power, 60 W continuous power and 120 W peak power, supported by a 25.4 mm copper voice coil on an aluminum former.
For enclosure design, the 5FHW works well in compact bass-reflex alignments. Recommended options include 5 liters tuned to 57 Hz for strong mid-bass, 6 liters tuned to 50 Hz for a balanced general-purpose response, or 6 liters tuned to 46 Hz for extended low-frequency output with high-pass filter protection. This makes it a practical choice for DIY speakers and compact woofers in indoor or outdoor systems.
