The REDCATT 12XR is a 12" professional subwoofer driver with an 8 Ohm impedance, high power handling and a neodymium motor designed for clean, low-distortion bass at large cone excursions.
REDCATT 12XR 12" Subwoofer 8 Ohm
The REDCATT 12XR is engineered for demanding low-frequency applications where output, control and low distortion matter. This professional subwoofer driver uses REDCATT’s XR motor concept, designed so the voice coil winding stays within the magnetic gap through most of the cone excursion. This helps reduce harmonic distortion when the driver is working hard at low frequencies.
Its neodymium magnetic system uses large magnets placed along the voice coil winding, supporting a peak-to-peak cone excursion of 28 mm. Unique gap venting improves air circulation and reliability, while a deep copper cap further supports clean performance. The 12XR also uses stitched tinsel wires and a large Nomex spider for robust operation at high excursion.
With 500 W AES power handling, 1000 W continuous power and 2000 W peak capability, the 12XR is well suited to serious woofers applications in professional audio and custom systems. Key T/S parameters include an Fs of 35 Hz, Qts of 0.68, Vas of 89.7 liters and sensitivity of 90.95 dB, giving designers a capable platform for extended bass performance.
For bass reflex designs, REDCATT recommends several practical enclosure alignments: 30 liters tuned to 40 Hz for high output and strong mid-bass, 35 liters tuned to 37 Hz for a balanced general-purpose response, or 40 liters tuned to 33 Hz for extended low-frequency performance with high-pass filter protection. This makes the 12XR a strong choice for vented PA bass cabinets, subwoofer builds and weight-critical speaker systems.
