        The HiVi Swan D10.8 Poly Cone Woofer is a high-end 254 mm woofer with a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, 100 mm voice coil, shielded vented magnet system and long-throw motor for accurate, powerful low-frequency reproduction in audiophile speaker systems, control monitors or subwoofer applications.

        HiVi D10.8 254 mm Poly Cone Woofer 8 Ohm

         

        The HiVi D10.8 is a high-end woofer built around an advanced magnetic structure. Its voice coil is positioned over an undercut central pole piece, with a thermally stabilized neodymium magnet at the bottom and a high-energy ceramic magnet at the top. A CNC-machined steel cup completes the shielded motor, creating a symmetrical flux distribution along the gap.

         

        This motor structure is designed to give the long-throw voice coil a symmetrical driving force, reducing inductance and back electromotive force modulation. The magnet system is optimized for improved driver linearity, making the D10.8 a strong choice among demanding audio components for accurate low-frequency reproduction.

         

        The shallow mineral-filled polypropylene cone is rigid and dynamically stable, while the large 100 mm voice coil helps excite the cone more uniformly. This supports clear, accurate reproduction with improved phase and transient behaviour. The vented motor and high-temperature voice coil construction help the driver handle 150 watts nominal power and 300 watts maximum power.

         

        With its cast aluminum frame, fatigue-resistant foam surround and decompressed rear volume, the D10.8 is suited for no-compromise audiophile speaker systems and control monitors. It can also be used as a subwoofer in various configurations where deep, controlled bass output is required.

        I use this woofer in my 3-way system, 100ltr netto - closed volume, filtered at 48Hz F3 as advised by manufacturer. It delivers incredible deep bass, even at low volumes. I measured a flat frequency response to below 20Hz at my listening position. The D10.8 is an improved DynAudio 30W100 but not meant to be used as a midwoofer. DynAudio 30W100 can be used up to 700Hz which btw is rediculous high for a woofer. When using this D10.8 as supposed, t...
