        HiVi D10.8 | 10"| Poly Cone Woofer

         

        The HiVi D10.8 represents a design in which the voice coil is positioned over an undercut central pole piece with a large thermally stabilized neodymium magnet at the bottom and a high energy ceramic magnet on the top. A specially shaped, CNC machined steel cup completes the magnetic structure from the outside, creating a shielded magnet system with symmetrical flux density distribution along the gap. The long-throw voice coil experiences a symmetric driving force that substantially decreases inductance and back electromotive force modulations. The magnet structure is optimized using Finite Element Analysis technique, resulting in a radical improvement of driver linearity. The cone has a shallow, high integrity structure that is extremely rigid and dynamically stable. The large voice coil diameter allows for a more uniform cone movement, delivering clear and accurate reproduction. The vented motor design and high temperature rated voice coil provide a dramatic increase in power handling. D10.8 is an excellent woofer for high power "no compromise" audiophile systems and control monitors. It also may be used as a subwoofer in various configurations.

        I use this woofer in my 3-way system, 100ltr netto - closed volume, filtered at 48Hz F3 as advised by manufacturer. It delivers incredible deep bass, even at low volumes. I measured a flat frequency response to below 20Hz at my listening position. The D10.8 is an improved DynAudio 30W100 but not meant to be used as a midwoofer. DynAudio 30W100 can be used up to 700Hz which btw is rediculous high for a woofer. When using this D10.8 as supposed, t...
