Dayton Audio Haptic add on Haptic feedback add-on bundle for sim racing rigs
The Dayton Audio Haptic add on is designed to bring tactile feedback to a sim racing rig without relying on high speaker volume. The PUCK tactile transducer works like a compact mini bass shaker, transferring low-frequency vibrations directly into the surface it is mounted to. Installed on a seat, pedal plate or chassis contact point, it helps you feel effects such as engine vibration, shifts and road texture through your rig. It is a practical solution for customers building with bass shakers and other audio components.
At the heart of the kit is an 8 ohm Dayton Audio PUCK transducer with 20 W RMS and 30 W peak power handling. Its usable frequency range of 20 to 80 Hz is focused on the low-frequency region where tactile feedback is most effective, while the 40 Hz resonant frequency provides strong physical response in a compact format. The unit measures just 89 mm in diameter and 25.4 mm in height, making it easy to place in confined spaces under seats, behind panels or around pedal assemblies.
The PUCK can be nested into a 70 mm cut-out with a 25 mm wiring slot, or surface-mounted with the included SMRK-2 ring when cutting a hole is not preferred. Six #6 wood or sheet metal screws are used for mounting on a suitable surface. For a neat sim rig installation, the add-on bundle is intended to be used with the included cables and accessories, and the wiring should be planned before permanent mounting. Standard wire nuts can be used to join wires, and the amplifier load must match the chosen wiring configuration. For related installation parts, see mounting hardware and cables and cable sets.
This haptic feedback add-on is not limited to racing simulators. The same compact transducer concept is also suitable for gaming chairs, couches, home theater seating and auto sound installations. Because the listener feels the low-frequency energy through the contact surface, the perceived bass impact can be increased while keeping the overall playback volume lower than with speakers alone.
