SMSL PL150 Hi-Fi CD Player

The SMSL PL150 Hi-Fi CD Player is designed for listeners who want straightforward CD playback with modern connectivity and headphone listening built in. Its CS43198 DAC is used to extract strong performance from standard 12 cm discs, while the slot-in transport supports CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD formats. For users with compatible collections, the PL150 also supports HDCD and MQA-CD playback.

The PL150 is equipped for both analogue and digital integration. It offers RCA line output for connection to amplifiers or active systems, alongside optical and coaxial raw digital outputs for use with an external DAC. On the front panel, 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs provide a convenient solution for private listening, with headphone volume control handled directly on the unit.

A bonded colour IPS display gives the player a clean, modern look while keeping playback information easy to read. The aluminum alloy front panel and gold-plated connectors add to the overall sense of quality, and the included remote control gives full access to playback functions from a distance. With a compact chassis measuring 205 x 42.8 x 144.7 mm and a weight of 1.145 kg, the SMSL PL150 fits easily into desktop, headphone, and compact hi-fi systems.

Nice, compact, good sound and quite responsive. It does not match the loading speed of my old Denon CD player. But for the size and the price this is a worthy replacement

Prima CD player. Grootste nadeel is dat het display alleen de oplopende tijd per track aangeeft en niet het track-nummer. Ook de afstandbediening is ietwat traag.

This is an excellent CD player. Electronically of an audio quality that is much greater than the price tag. I like it a lot!

I like the sound and the small size of the unit. Being my first slot insert player (I always preferred CD players with trays) I was afraid it might scratch my Cds, but not at all, the loading and unloading is butter smooth. My only, small concern is the lack of the full gapless play, which means if you listen the album from start to end, then there is no gap in music at all. But if you skip a track, then every next track will be played with gaps...

Grandioos geluid, hele fijne audiofiele DAC duidelijk details en kanaalscheiding dan wel breedte in het stereobeeld is onovertroffen, en dan voor zo'n lage prijs. SMSL pakt deze in zonder handschoenen, want ik zag vingerafdrukken en vegen op de behuizing, na een email met SoundImports kreeg ik direct een vervangend exemplaar waarbij blijkt dat dit ook zo is. Ik ben pietje precies en héél blij met de speler, mooi formaat, fantastische uitstral...

1 ster minder omdat gapless playback wederom niet werkt. Het was bekend dat het vorige model dit al had wanneer je een nummer verder drukte, maar gek genoeg doet de 150 helemaal geen gapless. Verschillende live cd's geprobeerd, maar tussen elk nummer een korte pauze, behoorlijk irritant. Ik gebruik hem als transport via coax naar een externe DAC, dus over de interne DAC kan ik weinig kwijt. Speler zelf ziet er in het zwart prima uit en past ...

Guter Sound, kann aber trotz Ankündigung keine Gapeless Wiedergabe, also ohne Pause zwischen den Tracks obwohl die CD's dafür ausgelegt sind (Stepaerobic). Macht 1 Sekunde Zwangspause, damit alle aus dem Takt kommen. Hab den Player wieder abgebaut, damit die Sportlerinnen mir nicht aufs Dach steigen. Schade.

I researched this as much as I could in readiness for it being available again in Europe and I am not disappointed. I have put it to the test with various music genres, including vinyl LP recordings to CD-R done twenty years ago, and clarity of the playback and channel separation are brilliant.

Very satisfied with my new smsl PL150. I needed a cd player to listen to a physical support again. Way more detailed than streaming, and a real joy to listen to entire albums again without suffering from option paralysis due to streaming’ s infinite sound data access .

SMSL PL150 is a great little CD player / Transport. Robust and compact. Good sound from the headphone socket with connection options to integrate into my Hi Fi. Seems to cope with some of my older less than perfect CDs.

Mooie compacte speler. Geluid van eigen DAC is prima, maar als transport speler werk ie perfect via tos of coax en aux. Super snel en lekker stil. En leuk dat er een remote bij zit. Display is mooi, maar daar hadden ze wel iets meer mee mogen doen, zoals resterende tijd van een track b.v. Het display gaat ook niet echt uit als de speler op stand-by staat. Ik heb hem aan mijn Fiio K11 R2R DAC hangen met een Hifiman Edition XS klinken mijn oude CD�...
