Bifrost Two-Way Loudspeaker Kit

The Bifrost loudspeaker kit features the SEAS Excel W18NX001 woofer, a meticulously crafted 18 cm driver with a Nextel-coated paper cone. This dual-layer coating minimizes cone resonance while maintaining excellent transient response. The woofer incorporates a copper-clad aluminum voice coil on a glass-fiber former for reduced mass and extended low-frequency performance. It operates in an 18-litre vented cabinet tuned to 42 Hz, offering smooth and extended bass.

The high frequencies are handled by the SEAS Excel T29CF002 “Crescendo” tweeter, which uses an advanced Hexadym magnet system and a patented Sonomex dome diaphragm for exceptional clarity. Its unique design minimizes distortion and ensures consistent performance across varying listening conditions. The tweeter’s frequency response is fine-tuned for smooth off-axis performance and natural sound reproduction.

The crossover network, developed using LspCAD simulation software, ensures precise integration between the drivers. Featuring a second-order electrical filter for the tweeter and a third-order network for the woofer, the crossover aligns the drivers in-phase at a 2.2 kHz frequency. Listening tests and measurements confirm a smooth, natural sound with a system sensitivity of 84 dB SPL.
