        GRS 5SMP-8 Surface Mount Woofer

         

        The GRS 5SMP-8 is a versatile 5-1/4" 8-ohm woofer tailored for surface mount applications, delivering a usable frequency range from 50 Hz to 2,500 Hz. Its poly cone construction and rubber surround help suppress unwanted resonances, while the vented pole piece and aluminum voice coil former support effective thermal management. A copper cap on the motor structure further reduces voice coil inductance, improving high-frequency clarity and lowering harmonic distortion. With an SPL of 86.4 dB at 2.83V/1m and an RMS power handling of 35 watts, the 5SMP-8 is well-suited for compact full-range systems, line arrays, or midbass augmentation in 2-way speaker designs. Its integrated foam gasket also helps achieve a tight acoustic seal during cabinet mounting.
