Peerless by Tymphany 830860 5-1/4" PPB Cone HDS midwoofer

The Peerless High Definition Sound (HDS) Series offers high-quality solutions for multi-way speaker systems employing vented box alignments. A powerful ferrite magnet system is coupled to a finite element analysis-designed suspension system, containing a linear spider design and rubber surround. The motor incorporates an aluminum shorting ring that reduces coil inductance, extending frequency response performance and reducing second harmonic distortion. A cast aluminum basket provides high structural rigidity, heat-sinking capacity for the motor, and additional ventilation under the spider that in combination with a vented cone neck reduces air compression effects. Peerless developed the proprietary and highly advanced Polypropylene Black (PPB) cone material used in the HDS PPB Series, creating a stiff but still dampened cone that remains stable even under the greatest sound pressures.

Bought loudspeakerdrivers, Peerless 830860, for use in small loudspeakers withour crossover without any tweeter. Needed a wideband driver that worked up to at least 6000Hz and with a substantial bass (Fs=62Hz) in bassreflex boxes. "Normal" music has a frequencyrange of approx. 40-8000Hz, so this is close enough in my experimental loudspeakers! Good to by from SoundImports, greate assortment, good data on drivers and convenient delivery options!

This Mid-Bass driver has a very interesting frequency range up to about 6000Hz and with good bass extenstion. Will build a loudspeaker with this only driver and pair it with Fosi MC101 with the hope that it will be a great "soundmachine" for my grandchildren as students, small with very good sound. Have used Peerless 830991 the same way and it sounds greate, but that driver is no longer avalable.

Klanglich ist nichts zu klagen. Angaben zu Schalldruck sind uneinheitlich und nicht mit früheren Produktspezifikationen vergleichbar. Voll geeignet als Ersatz für einen älteren Kalottenmitteltöner der einen deutlich höheren Schalldruck angab. Bohrung ist 12 cm, das findet sich nicht im Datenblatt. Die 51/4 Zoll betrifft wohl die abgeflachten Seiten und nicht den Kreisdurchmesser.

Very clear and dynamic midrange sound! Very high quality sound, even at high power. It has relative tight suspension and starts distortion at really high input power. It has a rising frequency response towards higher frequency, and requires proper crossover as any other driver, but Troles did a good job I think: I have built Troles Gravesen PPB-830860 kit with Peerless DX25 tweeter, and I am more than satisfied.
