The CT2-50k-2 features a 24-position stepped attenuator with a 60dB attenuation range. It uses a series resistor network of 23 non-inductive, low noise, SMD metal film resistors. The layout of the PCB boards and the choice of SMD resistors have reduced the signal path to a minimum length (typically five times shorter than conventional stepped attenuator designs with leaded resistors). This results in a very low series inductance and very low stray capacitance, which improves the sonic quality of the attenuator.
