Fountek makes some very nice ribbons and full-rangers so I was in a for a treat with this one.
I was surprised by how good these little fellas sound. The FR is decently flat but the rise between 2 and 4kHz can give them a bit of a harsh character, but that is probably a matter of taste and can easily be fixed with an equalizer if it does bother you. As usual, these desperately need baffle step correction. But that brings down the sensitivity quite a bit. So a more sensitive woofer to cover the baffle step region might be a better choice.
The speakers sound absolutely amazing when you are in ‘the sweetspot’ but they kind of loose their sparkle when you move out of the sweetspot, which is a common trait of full-range woofers.
All in all, these speakers are amazing budget full-rangers which will treat you well if you know how to implement them in your design.
